Hand Picked, Parched Is a Wonderful Self-Indulgence

Lake River Wild Rice
Unique flavor, special. I soaked it for 6 hours as with any grain and then incorporated it into a preparation of polenta made with Masa Harina. The wild rice enhanced the overall flavor and also added a nice chewy nature. I later propped this recipe up with chopped fresh sage leaves, added real butter and freshly ground black pepper. So many options for such a humble native plant that one could feel has been tended to with care and love of life. Grateful.
