Hand Picked, Parched Is a Wonderful Self-Indulgence
Introduced years ago by a family member, we were "hooked". We use it in soups, rice dishes, as a base for sauces, and as a side dish with meat servings - healthier than bread, we believe. Moose Lake has been a solid, consistent source. We appreciate their work.

Lake River Wild Rice
Unique flavor, special. I soaked it for 6 hours as with any grain and then incorporated it into a preparation of polenta made with Masa Harina. The wild rice enhanced the overall flavor and also added a nice chewy nature. I later propped this recipe up with chopped fresh sage leaves, added real butter and freshly ground black pepper. So many options for such a humble native plant that one could feel has been tended to with care and love of life. Grateful.

“Authentic” wild rice. A clean, long, whole grain product.
I lived in northern MN before moving out of the state and I am spoiled on having “good” wild rice. Products for sale on the shelf, at the local grocery store, do not compare to this 100 % wild rice. Shelf products “sold as” wild rice are usually mixed with other rice. I love the Mooselake wild rice products that I buy!

The best...
My absolute most favorite rice. This is not like the dark brown/black stuff sold in markets that has to cook for 40 minutes and must be mixed with another type of rice. Takes about 20-25 minutes and it is tender but firm perfection. The flavor is rich and slightly earthy. Add a couple of shakes of the Wild Rice Seasoning and it's totally scrumptious!!
